a progressive beer dinner in grandview heights
to benefit the steve hall memorial fund

MARCH 19, 2018 6:30 PM

Yeah, you landed on a Smokehouse page. As you may know, Smokehouse Brewing Company is the brewpub setting where we brew up many different beers, some of which ultimately end up being brewed at our production facility, Commonhouse Ales, located in the Brewery District. We also always have all Commonhouse Ales on tap here.

Commonhouse Ales is the only Certified B Corporation brewery in Ohio. We have established an account with the Columbus Foundation we call Commonhouse Shares. A portion of sales of Six One For Good Ale, our flagship ale, funds this account, out of which we make grants to Central Ohio charities.

This time, we're partnering with Columbus Brew Adventures to host a progressive beer dinner to benefit a tremendous Grandview Heights charity--The Steve Hall Memorial Fund. This fund was created by John Evans, owner of The Ohio Tap Room, Kellie Hall, Steve's widow and Kevin Richards, a math teacher at Grandview Heights High School and a childhood friend of Steve's. The fund benefits two deserving Seniors at GHHS. Each year, Kevin sends a note to teachers to recommend a student that exemplifies the quality and character of Steve, and to do so in an anonymous fashion. Steve Hall played basketball for TOSU before becoming a teacher at GHHS. Tragically, his life was cut short after succumbing to cancer. He was only 44.

Steve's character and quality included, but is not limited to: honesty, hard work, willingness to always do the right thing regardless of consequences, a deep quest for knowledge, goofiness and fun demeanor, and willingness to help others before himself.

If this dinner sells out (24 tickets), we expect to raise $1,000 for the Steve Hall Fund, thanks to Commonhouse Ales and Columbus Brew Adventures donating their services, to participating restaurants offering courses at deeply discounted pricing and to your generosity.

The event will be light-hearted, and you'll be able to interact with Lenny Kolada, founder of Smokehouse Brewing Company and Commonhouse Ales, Jim Ellison from Columbus Brew Adventures and Nichole Endicott, Brand Ambassador for Commonhouse. Undoubtedly, you'll feel the passion for craft beer and helping others. Here are the deets:

Tickets are just $75, which includes all ticket charges and sales tax.

The evening's progression:

Arrive at Smokehouse Brewing Company no later than 6:30 PM Leave your vehicle there. You'll board one of two vans supplied by Columbus Brew Adventures, led by owner Jim Ellison. You'll be whisked to the first stop:

Third and Hollywood: a starter course paired wih Commonhouse Six One For Good Ale. Then board the van to our next stop:

Z Cucina: an entree course paired with Commhouse IPA For The People, our newest offering. After, get in the van for a stop to:

The Ohio Tap Room: dessert will be provided by Cakes by Renee, paired with Commonhouse Scarlet, a tart cherry Berliner Weisse. Then one more van ride back to your vehicle.

Thank you for your support! What better feeling is there than neighbors helping neighbors?
Cheers!
